Woody Cup
Sponsored by Larry and Junaita Woods, the Woody Cup Challenge is open to all Michigan Horseshoe Pitchers Association Club Leagues, upwards of six clubs have been represented at the annual tournament. Clubs from Berkley, Lake Orion, Lansing, Lincoln Park/ Romulus, St. Clair Shores and Taylor have participated.
Mike Ardelean (deceased) of the Lake Orion Horseshoe Club, Dean Schmidt of the St. Clair Shores Horseshoe Club and Larry and Juanita Woods, owners of LDJ Trophies, created the Woody Cup Challenge.
The purpose of this event is to raise money for a charity, to make the public aware of the fun of horseshoe pitching, making new friends, and enjoying the great game of horseshoes.
The trophy, which resembles the Stanley Cup in hockey, is presented annually to the winning club. The Woody Cup is to be displayed by the winning club to create awareness of local clubs, the MHPA and the NHPA and to promotes youth participation and encourage membership in organized horseshoe pitching.
The St. Clair Shores Horseshoe Club will host the WOODY CUP CHALLENGE this year on September 14, 2024. We are looking for more teams to participate in this event.
